In the Home Economics department of the former Butler High School awaits the Heart of the Home – six open kitchens, a living room, and a dining room loaded with potential. Starting with an empty shell, HDC has begun renovating this space with a heart to teach life skills – cooking, budgeting, nutrition, and more. The kitchens will be used by DHR for children aging out of our foster care system, single mothers, at-risk pregnant mothers, teens and so many more. The amount of healing that can take place when we stand shoulder-to-shoulder baking a pie or preparing a casserole is deeper than we can imagine. Help us begin the process of restoring love, family, and hope.
